CSI Cooperated in Creating a New Curriculum for Nursery Schools in All EU Countries
In the school year 2011/2012, teachers of the pre-primary cycle of the European Schools began to work according to a new educational programme whose co-author is along with colleagues from the Great Britain, Finland, France, Germany and Austria also Dana Musilova, an inspector for the European Schools from the Czech Republic. The new curriculum, based solely on the holistic approach to a child, can be found on www.eursc.eu in the sub-section Studies and certificates - Syllabuses - Nursery cycle. Together with a text version in the pdf form, an interactive form of the curriculum “Website Early Education” is available in English, German and French as well.
During the first year of curriculum implementation, intensive communication between programme’s authors, management and teachers of the European Schools took place. Based on the requirements of schools, systematic training of teachers was carried out in the fields of planning and assessment. In the following school year, the training will continue. In May 2012, the authors of the curriculum organized a video conference designed for teachers of four schools in Brussels and for schools in Alicante, Bergen, Helsinki and Mol. The information exchange via the video conference was met with very positive reception from schools.
The Czech inspector for the European Schools also carried out training sessions for teachers of all language sections in the European Schools Luxemburg I, Luxemburg II and Munich. The training concentrated primarily on evaluation issues which are considered crucial for the European Schools. The training took place in English and French. Teachers of all EU countries were instructed in common strategies, examples of good practice from the Czech schools, European Schools and other international schools.
