Czech Presidency in European Schools

On September 1, 2014, the Czech Republic assumed presidency of the Board of Governors of European Schools as well as other administrative bodies of the system. This happened for the first time since 2004 – the year of the Czech Republic´s accession to Convention Defining the Status of European Schools. The Czech Republic will thus distinctly participate in further development of European schools till the end of the school year 2014/2015.

During the 19th – 21st November a SICI workshop entitled „Go With the Data Flow: Connoisseurship of the Inspectors“ took place in Belgian Antwerp. The Czech School Inspectorate was presenting the inspection information system InspIS DATA. On October 22, 2014, the Czech School Inspectorate launched an inspection electronic survey on the topic of selected alternative methods applied in basic education. All basic schools listed in the School Register are involved in the survey.

In September 2014 the Czech School Inspectorate in cooperation with experts from the Charles University in Prague elaborated more detailed analyses of international surveys PIRLS 2011, TIMSS 2011 and PISA 2012. On October 1, 2014, Marcel Chládek, the Minister for Education, Youth and Sports, together with Tomáš Zatloukal, the Chief School Inspector, officially introduced a new information system designed to present schools towards public – InspIS PORTÁL.

On July 9, 2014, the CSI published results of the International Programme PISA 2012 with a focus on financial literacy. The subject of financial literacy was among pupils from involved individual countries tested for the first time ever since 2000. Despite expectations based on last year's results in individual literacies, the Czech pupils were with their outcomes in financial literacy above average. On June 25, 2014, the results from the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS 2013) were internationally published. This survey is one of the key OECD projects in which participate 34 countries. In the Czech Republic is the TALIS survey realized by the Czech School Inspectorate. On May 19, 2014 the CSI launched the selective verification of student learning outcomes in the 4th and 8th grade of the basic schools and the 2nd grade of secondary technical schools. The verification is implemented through the inspection system of electronic testing (InspIS SET) which has been verified in the last two years within the 5th and 9th grade of BSs students testing.   The total of 305 schools providing primary education (i.e. basic schools and multiple-year secondary general schools) and 80 secondary technical schools were included into the testing sample.
