The 7th international IEA conference (International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement) took place in Prague during 26 – 30 June 2017. Key topics of the conference were methodology of the international surveys, their outcomes and interpretation of data collected within the surveys TIMSS, PIRLS, ICILS and ICCS. The conference was attended by 180 participants from more than 40 countries around the World.

The conference was preceded by two days´ workshops aimed at data analysis. Participants of these workshops debated about statistics within the surveys and the discussion took place also about individual national state policies in the context of international surveys. On Wednesday the 28th of June 2017 the main programme of the conference was introduced by ceremonial speech of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport Jindřich Fryč, Chief School Inspector Tomáš Zatloukal, Dean of the Pedagogical Faculty of the Charles University Michal Nedělka and IEA Executive Director Dirk Hastedt.

Participants were divided into topically aimed groups during the conference. The groups were focused on individual surveys and within these groups there was an extended space for discussion and exchange of inspirational practise examples. Participants of the conference and workshops gained a very important feedback both for their work and data analysis in their home countries and they have also acquired the newest information about writing national reports from individual surveys.
